Daynight

Pale blue light creeps in,
the drawn black curtain losing ground
as twilight slowly ticks by.
Daylight hums just beyond the folds.

Daynight lingers within these walls.
Specters still crouch in the corners,
haunting loose floorboards
and unoiled hinges.

Bones grow restless.
Legs slide and stretch.

The burden of consciousness
swoops in like a vulture,
picking over the entrails
of half forgotten nightmares
and oft-regurgitated failures.

Covers tossed aside,
feet meditating on the
mediated spaces to come.

The veil is lifted.
Earth stretches out before you
with the kind of resplendent beauty
normally reserved for the sacred.

Birdsongs ring out.
Ancient tomes being sung
in a language
not yet remembered.

Imagination takes flight.

The day has just begun
yet night is already
a passing apparition.
